The Annual Big Bear MTB Gran Fondo/Grizzley 100 is one of the premier Southern California endurance mountain bike events with rides for all levels. Riders will be able to challenge their personal abilities with distances of 100/70/30/20k.
The 20k allows intermediate riders to take the Snow Summit Sky Chair to the ridgeline to begin their ride, while other rides begin in the Village and may include 3,500 to as much as10,000 feet of climbing.
The third annual Big Bear Mountain Bike Gran Fondo/Grizzly 100 was held last year in 2016 on July 30th. It drew a tremendous turnout of riders, volunteers and supporters. There were 317 riders from seven countries and 20 states that descended on Big Bear Lake for the event.
This year this event will be held on Sept. 30, 2017 and promises to be even more exciting!
The Mountain Bike Gran Fondo/Grizzly 100 offers five different courses to suit all levels of riders and racers, from the 20k ride with chair lift access to the top that included two hand cycles to the grueling 100k distance with over 8600’ of elevation gain. There’s something for everyone!
The Grizzly National Ultra Endurance Race course offers epic technical riding on some of Southern California’s best single track. This race draws some of the top mountain bikers from around the world
These awesome mountain biking events offers some of the best aid stations in any cycling event. Riders are treated to a variety of snacks and treats as well as products to keep their energy and hydration going. Smiling faces are on hand at every station, refilling water bottles and ensuring that everyone is attended to. The rider favorite is always the “Heaven” aid station which sits atop of the Radford Road Climb. Angels are there to greet riders who have just finished a painful grueling climb up from the valley below.
The Big Bear Gran Fondo Mountain Bike ride offers 5 different routes to fit all levels of riders. From the tame 20k Skyview, that takes riders up the Snow Summit Scenic Sky Chair… to the 50k Skyline Course, riders are sure to experience the best mountain biking that Big Bear has to offer. For the most extreme and more challenging rides on the mountain, the Grizzly 100 or 75k Over the Top NUE is the ticket!

8 am: 50k Skyline
8:30 am: 30k Ridgeline
9 am: 20k Skyview from the top of Snow Summit Sky Chair
