Hallowen: Get into the spirit! | 10.20.2016

In my house we really like getting into the “spirit” of things all month of October in preparation for Halloween eve in Big Bear Lake.

With less than a couple weeks away, the Halloween holiday is almost upon us! Both children and adults alike scramble to create or buy last minute costumes of their favorite characters as imagination takes over. Soon, copies of witches and Thor will be seen every where in their search for candy land.

Halloween tends to be a favorite among children and in America’s fast paced culture, safer settings to trick-or-treat in have become a concern of parents everywhere. For years, Big Bear Lake has been a secret hide-a-way for Halloween fun! Situated only a short drive from most LA and San Diego areas, Big Bear Lake is a quaint mountain community with small town charm for a short or long get-a-way from the city life. On Halloween Eve, the downtown Village closes up and becomes a safe haven for trick-or-treaters. With decorations and scarecrows in sight, children and their parents are encouraged to take a walk around the downtown in the hunt for free candy and with an environment free of dangerous traffic. The fun starts at 4:30 PM as shops close as they start handing out treats and continues until 7:00 PM or if the candy runs out! Free parking is available at the friendly Visitor’s Bureau at 630 Bartlett Road in Big Bear Lake, CA, 92315. Grab the costumes and come on down for an exciting night of treats and delight! You can also expect to see an animal costume contest as well as local artists or vendors. Be sure to bring your camera! Plus, expect to see close to 50 different places giving out candy that night, and with the colder weather in the mountains make sure to dress right.
