My very favorite place to be on the 4th of July is definitely Big Bear Lake, CA. There is nothing like being on a boat in the middle of the lake, watching the most amazing fireworks display over the water! You can see the exciting lights from the fireworks reflecting in the water all around you, and the sounds from the awesome fireworks boom and echo off the mountains that surround you. The colors are amazing and the music that accompanies the fireworks show fills the air… it is fantastic!
The weather in Big Bear Lake in July is so wonderful, with cool nights and warms days. There are so many activities that I can’t begin to list them all here. This is the best Fourth of July fireworks show in Southern California. The 30-minute fireworks display is created on a barge that floats out in the lake. This amazing show can be viewed from a boat, which is my favorite! You can rent pontoons and boats at the several marinas in Big Bear Lake. Also, there are many places surrounding the lake where you can watch these awesome fireworks from shore!
Bring your folding chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets! Make a day of it and go to the beach during the day, but remember to bring lots of sunscreen and hats. Then when the sun goes down you’ll have a perfect spot on the beach to experience this wonderful fireworks display!
Another popular way to participate in the 4th of July celebration in Big Bear Lake is to attend The Annual Rotary Club’s 4th of July Lakefront Fireworks and Barbecue at the Marina Resort in the middle of Big Bear. It is one of the best viewing spots for the fireworks display from the shore. You can enjoy a delicious barbecue, drinks, live entertainment, and kid’s activities too! The barbecue tickets are limited and sell out every year, so be sure to get them ASAP if you plan on going to this event for the fireworks show.
If you can, you’ll definitely want to make this an extra long week-end to take advantage of the many activities taking place in Big Bear Lake to celebrate the 4th of July. There are several events, lots of activities, music everywhere, festivals and celebrations happening all over the mountain! Celebrations start Friday, June 30th through Tuesday, July 4th.
